How to Jump-Start a Hybrid Battery




If you are wondering what to do if your Hybrid Battery dies while you are out of the road? Will your jump-start your hybrid car? Don’t fret! It is not difficult to do that, or any other Hybrid Car. It is almost similar to jump-starting a fuel-powered vehicle, all you need is a jumper cable, a car that has a strong battery, and a solid metallic point. Once everything is set, follow the owner manual to jump start.

Jump Start Your hybrid car: The Steps

Learn how to jump-start a car, make sure that both of the cars are parked and the engines are turned off. Next, follow the steps below:

Step 1: Open the hood and look into the fuse box cover. There you will see the jump start terminal. 

Step 2: Connect the positive jumper cable of your battery to the positive terminal of your car. 

Step 3: Connect the second red positive cable to the positive terminal on the supporting car. 

Step 4: Connect the black negative cable to the negative terminal battery of your car. 

Step 5: Secure the second negative clamp to a metallic point and take it to a safe distance. The metallic part will be unpainted and unmoving.

Step 6: Start the engine and run it for five minutes.

Step 7: Start your hybrid car and look for a “READY” notification.

Step 8: Disconnect the jumper cables in reverse order.

How Long to Run a Hybrid Battery Run After A Jump Start?

The short answer: Run your Hybrid car and run for at least 30 minutes after a jump start.

The long answer: Since you jump-start a car are jump-starting is a hybrid vehicle, the 

process of Toyota battery jump-start is a bit different as compared to gas-powered vehicles. So how long to run a Hybrid car after a jump start? It is recommended to run it for 8 hours. We also recommend taking it to the garage for a battery inspection. 

We’ll happily watch over it while we completely recharge the 12-volt battery. If you take it to our garage, we recommend it to park at your own risk, putting it in a “Ready “ mode, connecting it to a recharger, and letting it sit for 8 hours. 

So why 8 hours? For one, your hybrid uses more electrical than a fuel-powered car and it has a bigger battery that will take longer to recharge. But why fully recharge it? It makes it easier for your battery to work and increases the lifespan. Also, recharge your battery and regulate its temperature during the cold months!

Can I Jump Start Another Car From A Prius?


So can your jump start a Toyota car hybrid or any other car using another car such as Prius, we don’t recommend it. This topic is widely discussed across the web, but consult the Toyota owner’s manual, it will strongly advise you not to jump-start your car from a Toyota Prius.
